I've seen both the short and feature versions of "Bottle Rocket", "Rushmore", "The Royal Tenenbaums", "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou", and caught the "Hotel Chevalier" short online. So yeah, I'm a Wes Anderson and I would hope most people reading this would be as well. I'm not like a uber-Anderson fan. I always enjoy his movies and that's a huge compliment. I always loved the stories and journeys Wes put us on, but never really "connected" with a character. I say that not so much on a personal level, but on more of a realistic level. The characters seemed too much like characters and pawns to move a story along with. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but I think it's what has kept me from being an uber-fan. It's definitely not the initiative, beautiful direction, over the top visuals, while all remaining subtle, or even the acting. It's just that one aspect. Until now. I finally got to see the long a waited "The Darjeeling Limited". It was released "Limited" so getting out to wherever Limited, Indiana is always a bitch. This movie actually pulled me in by a more realistic connection to the characters. That missing ingredient was finally there as was all the great aspects of what Wes Anderson does were there. With that, this one is officially now my favorite film of his. If you liked any of the movies listed in the first sentence of this paragraph, then you'll have no problems with this movie. It just amazes me that what I consider to be his best work goes so far under the radar. Don't let the DVD of this one go unseen. Get this one ASAP!
