BY MIKEY MIGO
I've been on a HUGE movie kick lately. I've been watching everything and anything lately which results in about 10 movies a week. I'm not bed ridden, chronically ill, or anti-social, but just enjoy taking a break between projects and business to "escape" for an hour and a half. The one I want to talk about this past week is The Ten. I found out that it's by the makers of "Wet Hot American Summer" and that Paul Rudd, Winona Ryder, and tons of other awesome people are in it. Those two facts sold me. It sold me to the point that I didn't even really pay attention to the plot. It could have been a Klingon subtitled Horror Romance and I'd still hit that "play" button to check it out. It ended up being about the Ten Commandments. At first I had to take a deep breath because I was a bit worried that it'd be something really preachy hidden under an edgy actor façade like Saved! (I did like it) ended up being. Instead it was 10 different short stories about each commandment held together and narrated by Rudd and his marital problems. The comedy was quirky, well paced, and off the wall; all while maintaining charm and a sense of intelligence. I know that's a weird assessment of a comedy, but I really enjoyed how it was written and put together. If you've seen "Wet Hot American Summer" then you're only hurting yourself by not seeing this yet.
