Sometimes a movie just doesn't get a fair shake at the box office. This "straight to video" release is much better than 99% of the movies I've seen get the same treatment. It stars Luke Wilson at a floundering college professor who is seeking the career vindication of tenure. All is going fairly well for him until the school brings in a teacher from Yale to compete for the same gig. David Koechner damn near steals the show as Wilson's buddy who has his own subplot of finding Bigfoot. Wilson is assisted by a good hearted, but crazy Koechner in sabotaging theYale prof's chances. On top of this, there is a subplot revolving around Wilson's father being in a retirement home. It sounds like a lot is going on, but it's done just right. It's from the producer of "Rushmore" and does have a "Wes Anderson" feel, but in a world closer to reality. It's not so much of an adult fairy tale as the locations, characters, and story isn't really that larger than life, but a calm and collected view into this group of character's world. My only complaint is that Wilson's character is just about the same as most movies he's done. He's the straight man. He does it well, but I'd like to see him do something different. None the less, this was a pretty good movie. I'd give this a solid B. It doesn't change the world, but it's a really enjoyable experience.
