I hate when this kind of thing happens. They promoted the hell out of this movie, but in my opinion did it all wrong. The trailer for this movie makes it seem like if Judd Apatow produced "American Pie". It's not THAT at all. I am a fan of Jay Baruchel. Since "Undeclared" and then onto his smaller roles in the Apatow movies. I tend to always come across his movies and always enjoy his work. If you haven't seen "Just Buried", do so. He rocks in that too. Then add Krysten Ritter, who rocked it on "Breaking Bad", T.J. Miller who made "Carpoolers" a bit more watchable, and to my enjoyment Nate Torrence, who I really think would of broken out if "Studio 60" had more than one season. I'm obviously a fan of the casting here. I've never seen Alice Eve before, but was very surprised she's British. The movie is about an average shmuck (Baruchel) going out with a super hot chick (Eve). They hit it off, but the world around them constantly reminds them that she's too good for him. The comedy and drama is at a good balance here. It plays almost like a Woody Allen inspired type of movie with the way Baruchel plays the neurotic puppy. The jokes and vulgar side of things are funny and come off fresh. The drama and romance of the two does come off somewhat believable thanks to the two leads performance. It's definitely more believable than Rogen/Heigl from "Knocked Up". It doesn't sound like all that great of a movie from the trailer, promo, and by simplifying the premise but it ended up being one of the best romantic comedies I've seen since "Forgetting Sarah Marshall", which I hold in high regards. If you're looking for a good movie then I highly recommend checking this out before you have to wait for it on DVD. B+
