This low budget comedy just came out and I sorta lucked myself into this one this past week. The main reason I watched this was because I read that it starred Donald Glover. I've seen his "Comedy Central Presents", a few interview appearances, and of course his work on "Community". This movie was basically done by him and his friends as "Derrick Comedy" as they call themselves. The movie centers around a group of three friends who were kid detectives when they were younger who never really grew up despite being high school seniors. It sounds weird and silly and it IS weird and silly. The child-like mentality of the group in a normal adult world is hilarious. It's not like they're "man-childs" or Will Ferrell-like. It's their own thing and a bit more surrealistic. I'm growing to be a huge fan of Donald Glovers, but the others in this movie were nothing to sleep on. D.C. Pierson and Dominic Diekes rocked as the "boy genius" Duncan and strong arm Charlie. The chemistry between the three made it a much better movie that it could have been. Another surprise was Aubrey Plaza, of "Parks and Rec" fame. She's always entertaining, but I think this might actually of been her best acting. She's not the character from the show and shows more emotion that I've seen from her before. All in all, this movie was hilarious and very well done. I'll definitely watch from from "Derrick Comedy" in the future.
