I was a big fan of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and was instantly excited about this spin off movie. In a Monday afternoon theater full of six people, two who appeared to be older than my grandparents, I had the pleasure to watch this. It's not what I expected and I'm sure not what other did. It wasn't a spoon-fed laugh every minute movie like you'd think. It's about a young kiss ass intern, Jonah Hill, working at a record label owned by Diddy playing a crazy fuck named "Sergio". Hill is given the task of transporting his favorite junkie rockstar of all time from London to New York to LA for a huge show. Hilarity and fucked up shit occurs. I keep reading reviews saying it was a "great road trip movie", but that's not really the case. Yes, there is traveling but all in all like four or five destinations explored. If anything, it ended up being a dark comedy more than anything. Other Apatow movies had awkward moments and fucked up situations, but here they don't have the heart and come off a lot more uncomfortable. That's not saying it's a bad thing. I laughed a lot during the movie and enjoyed the oddball road trip situations that went down. At times the editing felt a little choppy and rushed, but I feel it was intended to be that way to give a full chaotic experience. I won't get into the plot too much because you should be surprised and open minded for it, but it's definitely worth watching. Due to the crazy amount of content crammed into this one it would seem like it's a very rewatchable movie. You might as well start with the first time. I suggest to ignore your expectations based on the actors or trailer you've seen a million times and just take it in, but please avoid the "Jefferies". See it! See it now!
