It took me awhile, but I'm finally going with this movie for a quickie review. I was curious because I love me some music related bio pics, but iffy because Kristen Stewart is one of my least favorite actresses. I boycott Twilight, but her stuff in Adventureland was bad news. She lacks presence and no matter how good the movie, I find myself not caring about her character. Sadly, the same can be said for her work in this movie as the ever so emotive Joan Jett. She showed more range and had some outburst, but at the end of the day I cared way more about Dakota Fanning. Fanning rocked it as Cherie Currie and is growing into a fine and dare I say great actress. Like most people, I'm used to seeing her as the cute little kid but she's 16 now and instead of self destructing like most child actors, she's striving. She, along with Michael Shannon as Kim Fowley, really made the movie worth watching. The story was kind of boring and a rock cliche. I kept looking at the clock waiting for it to end and when it finally did it was a very forgettable movie. It wasn't a bad movie, but it just doesn't connect on any level with me. I love music and I love film, so that's a bad thing. If you have a chance to see it, see it. If you go your whole life without seeing it, it's really no loss. C+
