I did not want to watch this movie. Nothing against anyone specific, but this just isn't my type of movie. I ended up being open minded and giving it a chance at the request of a family member. It ended up being "not bad". To me, it felt like a cop drama that could be aired on FX in between The Shield and Rescue Me. I don't watch those shows, but it just had an "FX vibe" to it. This movie was WAY too much. It was overly dramatic to the point where there was some big twist or outlandish revelation at the end of every scene. I'm not quoting the movie here, but it was like "My drug dealing father used to beat me (insert five seconds of dramatic silence) and that's why I never learned how to read." The casting was really unique and interesting. Keanu did a fair enough job carrying the load, but there was a lot of notable supporting cast members and a few "one or two" scene people who are worth noting. Forest Whitaker, Common, Chris Evans, Hugh Laurie, Cedric The Entertainer, Terry Crews, and even Jay Mohr were all in this movie. Some of them were around for most of the movie, but some were there for just a little while. If I had to pick one stand out from the supporting cast, I go with Terry Crews. I've seen him in movies like Idocrisy and on Everybody Hates Chris, but his dramatic chops were pretty impressive. I wouldn't watch this movie again. It wasn't a bad movie, but it's not my thing. If you're into crime dramas, then you might want to check it out. Otherwise, wait for it to be on TV and know it's "not bad". There are a lot worse movies out there.
