This past Thursday night at 12:01 AM, three friends and I hit up the local IMAX to see the first screening of "I Am Legend". I was on the fence about going, but once news broke that the first few minutes of Batman were to be shown before the movie it was sealed. I won't spoil the Batman trailer for you, but I will talk about I Am Legend. It was sorta what I expected from the early reports. It was a good movie that covered a range of emotions, but it wasn't a great movie. I'm not saying I didn't like it, but it was what it is. Will Smith was awesome in the role and took you on a journey pretty much by himself. The monsters/vampires/virus victims were cool. They sorta reminded me of the big monster from Apex Twin's "Come to Daddy" video. I enjoyed this depiction of animalistic vampires more than I did the ones from 30 Days of Night. I had the luxury of seeing it on a gorgeous IMAX screen, so I really can't give a balanced recommend. If you want to see a good movie that you'll remember and want to see again, see it. If not, then you should have skipped this part of the column once you got past the headline.
