First off, the things I notice. I have a lighter just like his “KUSH” one, but mine says “MIGO”. Yep, Dre and I are the only ones to own Zippos. Secondly, Dre looks old. His age has caught up to him. I’m not looking at him for a sex symbol or anything so it doesn’t bother me. He just looks a little weathered since the last time I saw him. With that out of the way, the song is ooookay. It’s way laid back and has a good bounce to it, but I really think Akon’s chorus ruined it for me. If it were Dre and Snoop it would have been about ten times better. Akon just makes it feel generic. This song would make a good album track, maybe a fourth single permitting the success of it… but a leadoff single? After making us wait so long? Nope. Not going to cut it. That’s the song though. I enjoyed the video. Dre always has great looking videos. Yeah, it was your typical rapper in the club cliché video but it’s well done. It’s easy to be taken in by it and to get caught into. Sadly, I think this is a case where the video is better than the song. The video works. The colors pop, the motion is smooth, and the direction and production is top notch. It’s so good that it forces you to pay more attention to the song, which in this case exposes us to something not as awesome. It’s going to be interesting to hear this album in 2014…
