2010 is a memory. 2011 is here. Every year people set themselves some random “new years resolution” to do and go for. We’re all guilty of it. It’s the same “THIS IS THE YEAR that I (place random lifestyle change here)!!!” and “FROM HERE ON OUT, I WILL NEVER (place random bad habit here) AGAIN!!!” These things fail. It’s so rare to see someone stick to their guns on a New Years Resolution. Last year I joked that my resolution was to not have any resolutions at all. That turned out well enough. I’m a bit more in the direction I want to be in artistically, financially, emotionally, and physically. This is because I wanted to change and wanted to move on. Some things remain the same and I’m still the same damaged goods I’ve always been, but I’m better for it and better at it.
In 2011, I’ll be a bit more blunt. Digital Lizard Productions is going to release two movies. If things get screwed up with that, I’ll film myself doing scenes with sock puppets all by myself. This IS going to happen. Two movies. In 2010, we had the documentary release but we should have had two movies on top of that. In 2011, there is no holding back. The equipment and overall production value is getting better as the day passes. We’re just about on the level of production quality as some multi-million dollar movies. We’re not on THAT level yet, but the tools are soon to be readily available to get there. The mark will be made, like it or not.
Okay… so… 2011, here’s the deal. I won’t screw with you if you don’t screw with me. I won’t waste your time if you don’t waste mine. 2010 and I had a good thing going, but 2010 is gone and it’s just you and I. I’m not going to throw a cliché out there and say “2011 is going to be the year of Mikey MiGo” or “2011 is the year of Digital Lizard”. While, I respect you 2011, you’re not nearly enough. I need, want, and demand more. Still, we can do well together if we both give it a go. If you do me right, I’ll give you anniversaries, milestones, and more important dates than you can shake a leap year at.
