The Oscars have come and gone once again and once again I feel as if the movie world is an unjust place. The show had a good enough pace to it. It didn’t feel too boring for too long the entire night. As always there are parts that make you want to sleep or certain celebs show up that are your “hate list” (I hate Billy Crystal for instance), but all in all… good program. James Franco and Anne Hathaway were funny, charming, and did a fine job at moving the show a long. They had a few humorous moments, but nothing to flashy or edgy. It was all class all night. The award winners are a different story though. I was happy to see Trent Reznor get an Oscar. It was a weird sight, but well deserved. Aaron Sorkin got adapted screen play, which is cool too. I loved Christian Bale’s work in The Fighter. It’s cool to think that one year he can play Batman and the next still deliver in a dramatic role. It just proves how great of an actor he is, like it or not. Melissa Leo is awesome and I was rooting her on as well. With Treme getting snubbed on all the TV award shows it was great to see her get an Oscar. I hope it doesn’t negatively affect the show though. Instead of trying to be extra literate in my description, I’m just going to say what bothers me. Flat out, The King’s Speech was NOT THAT GOOD. It was well done and good, but I wouldn’t even put it in the top five movies of the year that a lone gives it Best Picture. The best part of the movie in my opinion was its cinematography and direction. They got Best Director, Best Actor, Best Movie, and Best Original Screenplay. I thought it was well done, but better than Black Swan? Better than Inception? Better than The Social Network? The Town? The Fighter? No on all accounts. The best movie this year was The Social Network. It should have gotten Best Picture. Eisenberg should have gotten Best Actor as he transformed into a new personal. Colin Firth’s acting was him playing himself with a stuttering problem. A lot of people stutter, it’s not a big deal. But it’s English so we must pretend it’s great or everyone else will think we’re not smart. Whateve. I’m not bitter or anything. It’s not like it was a movie about blue people rambling about the rain forest or some shit. Wait, that was last year.
