I hate when people try to use the internet to spread their own personal agenda when it comes to religion and faith. If you have religion and faith, awesome. If you don’t, awesome. If you think either way makes you a better person than you’re delusional. I’ve studied up on this stuff through school and personal interest, but it’s just not for me. I’m not a religious person, but I have my own thing that keeps me good. A lot of atheist and agnostics go out of their way to shit talk religion and to publically contradict whatever they can when they can. I’m a fan of rock and roll music so I’ve encountered plenty of “praise the devil” type of scenarios. To me, it’s all in fun. But there are those who get carried away. It’s mainly attention seekers trying to get attention by being obnoxious and uninformed with their blind hate for anything and everything that’s organized religion. Those people suck and need to get lives. If you’re THAT bothered by how someone else lives their life then you’re obviously in need of a personal reality check. Don’t be so close-minded. Learn something about what you’re looking down on. I’ve put my time in to know it’s not for me, but if someone finds something of worth from faith then why rain on their parade? Why be THAT guy?
Sadly, the “there is no god! Satan rules! Slaaaaaaaaaaayer!” people aren’t the only ones being dicks in today’s world of modern Christianity. This is why I’m ranting on this pseudo-contraversial topic. I am tired of hipster kids treating religion like it’s a freakin’ hacky sack or PBR. A lot of people will agree that the “reborn” Christian types are a bit overbearing, but skinny jeans and Jesus don’t mix.
It has bothered me for awhile, but after a conversation with a friend who found himself at church I HAD to rant about this. My friend told me he saw a dude wearing skinny jeans in church. Then it really hit me. “Young Christians”, well the majority, are treating religion like a trend. It’s this whole “promise ring”, “straight edge”, “neo-hipster” thing that’s under my skin. I know the old adage of “God don’t care what you wear!” But c’mon… skinny jeans? I wouldn’t want you in MY house that alone the house of the dude I’d consider the maker of everything if I’d consider such things. Do you wear skinny jeans now to job interviews or funerals too? It’s not so much the actual pants though. It’s just the idea that being a Christian has become no different than wearing a certain style shirt, drinking a certain cheap beer (PBR), and using a certain iphone. I’m not against the idea of young people being into religion because no matter my own take on it, the morals attached as positive ones. Don’t take this stuff so lightly. Countries have been fighting for hundreds of years over their choice in religion. People have died and sacrificed everything in order to defend their belief. I won’t go off too more on this one. To sum it up, I’m cool and respectful of religious beliefs but I think these iChristians praying to their iGod need to get their shit together. As much as I’m a “non-believer”, I still find it insulting to see these types of teenagers and twenty something hipster pod people using Jesus as a status symbol.
