BY MIKEY MIGO
Here’s what I’m thinking. The Rock will beat John Cena. The anger and embarrassment of losing to The Rock will end up making Cena go bonkers and FINALLY go heel. We ALL want this to happen and why not now? Wrestling is currently in a transition into the heart of a new era. A big storyline like that would shake things up to the point of things almost being unpredictable. That’s the main event for sure. The inevitable rematches will be main events too. You’re NOT going to see The Rock wrestle in a match that’s not last on the card. You’re just not.
The rest of the card is up for debate. Rumors, jokes, and tweets about Jericho and Punk going first have been around. I really don’t feel like this feud is anywhere close to being over. It’s going to have to have rematches in the upcoming months. Because of that I want to say Jericho will get the win, but Punk needs the “Wrestlemania moment” badly at this point in his career. I think Jericho will do the job. Punk wins. I want Daniel Bryan to win over Sheamus, but I have my doubts. Of all the matches on the show, this is the match result that I’m really not sure about. I look for this match to be the sleeper of the show. Sheamus gets the win here and then Daniel Bryan will break up with AJ and blame her for the loss. That’s the predictable route in the storyline. I hope they surprise me.
The Hell In The Cell Match should be called a “Get Off My Lawn!” Match. I appreciate the fact they’re doing it in a cell and the fact they got Shawn Michaels to ref, but it’s not going to be pretty. They’ll brawl, they’ll be slow, and it’ll be slightly embarrassing. They’ll have Shawn Michaels and elaborate spots that’ll disguise this. Michaels has had to show up to pretty much carry Undertaker’s side of the promos. Triple H is going to have to carry him in the ring. Why can’t Undertaker just retire? Sadly, I don’t see him losing here and they’ll probably attempt to squeak out another dozen matches over the next dozen years. Undertaker wins. I just pray to Jebus that Shawn Michaels NEVER wrestles again.
Those are four solid matches, but the rest of the undercard isn’t too bad either. I don’t give a shit about Maria Menounos and Kelly Kelly taking on Beth and Eve. Menounos isn’t “Wrestlemania worthy” AT ALL. I’m sure she’s awesome, but who the hell cares? Where is Nattie? Where is Kharma? Hell… where is Alicia Fox? This is so stupid. I guess Maria Menounos and Kelly Kelly win. The 12-Man Tag Match is going to be a clusterfuck. The only thing I can think about it when they’re hyping it is that Dolph Ziggler should be in a bigger match and more featured on the event. Team Johnny wins. Maybe Long will start managing someone… maybe Brodus? A Tag Team? A Stable? Laurinaitis is too over right now to not be on TV. Kane and Orton were thrown together. Randy Orton wins because he needs an upswing and deserves one. The final announced match is Cody Rhodes defending the IC Title against Big Show. I like the build up here. They’ve pushed it in a way where Big Show almost HAS to win and that’s where I think the swerve will come. Cody Rhodes needs the big win here. If he gets it, expect him to have at least one PPV main events if not his first big title run. That’s what I’m hoping for at least.
I’m not expecting my mind to be blown. I’m hopeful for a good show. On paper, this could be one of the best wrestling shows of all time. I know that’s a big thing to say, but the card is stacked. The younger generation is taking over and if the WWE is serious about guys like Punk, Sheamus, Cody, and Daniel Bryan then they’re going to have to give them the ball and let them run with it. Rock and Cena is a great anchor for the show, but it’s those younger guys who’ll make or break the show. I’m confident they’ll strive. I’m calling it now… This will be the best ‘Mania since Wrestlemania 17.
