I really dug the first one and then the second one was a little off, but still pretty fun. It’s just that the first one was so amazing that it would be hard to follow it. They put out a good one, but it just didn’t do it for me like the first one. Sadly, the third one didn’t either. Hopes killed aside, let’s get right to it. I did enjoy this movie. I liked it a lot and I think it was probably even better than Guantanamo Bay. This movie is years in the future. Harold is a whipped family man, while Kumar is a sad bearded stoner. They’ve fallen apart. It’s Christmas time. They end up getting together and involved in some hijinks. They keep the formula alive in these movies. It’s one big epic journey. This time they need to find a Christmas tree or Harold’s future father in law, played by Danny Trejo, is going to do bad things to him. The cameos we get are Patton Oswalt, Thomas Lennon, RZA, Bobby Lee, and of course the duo of Krumholtz and Kaye Thomas. Everyone is cool. Thomas Lennon stood out, but other than that it’s just typical good stuff. Neil Patrick Harris is on the poster like he’s part of the adventure, but he’s only around for a short spot. It was funny because he addressed the fact that his “real self” is gay and that he’s “really not”. That’s hard to explain, but I think you get it. If not, you’ll see it. The journey itself was fun. It felt a lot like White Castle in the terms of the random spots and types of people, but not the same. I’m not sure if the idea of the two leads being worn out and more mature, but it came off like they were bored. I’m SURE they weren’t, but there was just something off putting in the energy department. That said, I did laugh out loud and the 3D stuff was perfect or a 3D stoner movie. The baby stuff was so “out there” that it was more lame than funny. If you’re a fan of Harold and Kumar I definitely recommend this movie. If you’re not a fan, you’re not going to like this one. If you’ve never seen Harold and Kumar, give it a shot. Don’t rush out or anything to see this, but if you get a chance it’s not a bad idea. B
