Alto/Reaper vs. Vanilla Shakes vs. Team Dammit vs. Los Mexicanos
Event: WRECKAGE 2003
Date: 6/21/03
Duration: 12:32
(*Audio Disclaimer: The audio is jacked up. It’s probably best to watch it with the audio up to a lower level. If you adjust a little, it works and you can still hear some commentary, the crowd, and the bump sounds. This is a horror of dealing with old VHS tapes. I suppose it’s good that I’m transferring these over to some form of digital copy before these tapes turn to ash or something. Sorry about that, but it’s still definitely worth checking out. *)
This match was fun to watch now, but was probably a big mistake. At the time our roster was just too big. We had way too many people and a fair majority were tag teams. After this match I’m pretty sure all that remained was Alto, Reaper, and Willie. Everyone else would be gone from MEW forever. The Shakes because times were tough and I couldn’t afford to promise them a bigger pay day at any rate. GQ just kind of disappeared and the Mexicanos and I couldn’t get our schedules straight. Another part about the match is that Team Dammit and the Mexicanos just didn’t want to work against each other and insisted on pushing the “Team Dammit” stable as opposed to a team. They were playful about it and it looks pretty obvious they’re half assing it at some points and at others just being pricks to the smaller guys. I booked the match and I don’t even know if it’s a shoot or not. It’s still a good athletic match. Alto and Reaper and the Shakes gave it some type of story and made it watchable. I wish Alto and Reaper had won though. Of course, retrospective booking is much easier than dealing with a million things in the moment.
