Chippy Castro won the North American Title in a battle royal in a triumphant moment in MEW history. He’s always been a locker room favorite, a fan favorite, and a really nice guy. He won the Battle Royal, but Johnny Mac was on the hunt for the title for awhile and was not about to let Castro get in a good reign. Also at this time, Kenny Courageous was a top contender so we put all three of them in a elimination three-way for the belt. These three personalities are weird to think of being in one match together. Johnny Mac was the squirrely asshole heel, Kenny Courageous was the squirrely asshole face, and Chippy was basically just everyone favorite homeboy. This match had its ups and downs. It probably shouldn’t been anywhere close to the 13:33 that it was, but it’s far from the worst match MEW has had. Once Chippy was eliminated, we knew we were going to have a new champion. It should have been like three minutes shorter, but the crowd of dozens sound amused throughout. All of that and I believe this was Johnny Mac’s first singles title victory. Can’t complain about that.
